Premiere of Installation by Artist Brent Green at Arizona State University Art Museum

Tempe, AZ - Combining sculpture, sound, films and architectural forms, the project is inspired by the true story of hardware store clerk Leonard Wood and his unabating love for his wife Mary. When Mary was diagnosed with cancer, Leonard started building his idiosyncratic house room by room, striving to build something tangible to express or contain his love. Gravity Was Everywhere Back Then tells this compelling story about an obsessive need to build something that remains behind. Exhibition on view 4 September through 31 December at Arizona State University Art Museum.
Green reinvented the house in his studio in a barn in Pennsylvania and shot his first feature-length film with live actors in the house. For the first time, he will integrate vignettes from the film throughout the house, along with several other structures and sculptures. Green will be in residence from August 17 through September 3; museum visitors can meet the artist and see the installation in progress during regular public hours.
