Gallery Bergelli presents New Paintings by Bryn Craig

Larkspur, CA – Gallery Bergelli is pleased to present new paintings by Bryn Craig.  Craig´s oils are rich with luminous color.  His subject manner lends itself to recalling a moment, a scene, frozen in time.  Craig’s street scenes of familiar haunts in Marin, take us on our own nostalgic journey to that special night out with our friends, meeting under the glowing marquee at the Rafael Theater or gathering for dinner in a crowded restaurant in Larkspur. The street quiet, but aglow from the candlelit interiors, the neon signs of the business and a hint of moonlight are all subjects of Bryn Craig’s desire to capture and freeze the light. The opening reception will be held on Friday, September 25^th from 5pm-7pm and on view from September 25 to October 30, 2009.

The artist says about his work:

"I am interested in finding the poetry and beauty in the most ordinary of places and things.  I try to portray a warm cozy feeling simply because I am attracted to such a place at such a moment and I like to convey that to others.  I like to "walk into" my painting, have a seat, and put my feet up. Whether my subject is the corner of a room or a long view of a city street at night, there will be something inviting that makes me want to go there."

Born in Pennsylvania in 1931, Craig developed a passion for painting from his earliest years. He studied at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art and spent summers at the Art Students League in New York. His work has been shown in exhibitions at the Philadelphia Museum as well as the Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC. He has received numerous awards and has been featured in American Artist magazine.
