SEDALIA, MO - The Daum Museum of Contemporary Art on the campus of State Fair Community College has received three grant awards that will enhance its public programs during the 2009-2010 season.
A Windgate Foundation grant of $80,000 will support the February 2010 exhibition “Marc Leuthold, Recent Work, 1995-2010.” The foundation also will support the museum’s efforts to mount a national tour of the exhibition with an additional $100,000 or more.
The Missouri Arts Council gave the museum a Visual Arts Award of $28,405 for fiscal year 2010 to help support the October 2009 exhibition, Elena Herzog: Dewarped & Deweft, and the Leuthold exhibition. The museum’s application was ranked first in a field of 24 organizations.
The council also gave the museum an arts education monthly program grant of $2,393 to support a Sept. 18 workshop designed to introduce Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) to area art and classroom teachers. Pamela McLaughlin, Ph.D., a national VTS trainer and curator of education and public programs at Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, N.Y., will lead the workshop.
