London.- The Brunei Gallery is proud to host "Retracing Our Steps: A Photographic Journey through the 100 Years of the ROC" until August 31st. The Taipei Representative Office in the UK is cooperating with the Brunei Gallery, SOAS to host this special exhibition which shows the multifarious changes the Republic of China has undergone over its century of existence, on this, its 100th anniversary.
The Retracing Our Steps exhibition charts the development of Taiwan over this time. It covers all aspects of the changing lifestyle of the island’s inhabitants, documenting advances and revolutions in politics, law, economy, technology, society and the arts. It also explores the connection between the people and the land, and concepts of tolerance and diversity in both racial and political spheres. In this way, this exhibition provides audiences with both a wide overview of the unique history of Taiwan, and encourages reflection on the development of modernity on the island. The exhibition would be beneficial to those scholars studying Taiwan, as well as providing a valuable introduction to the general public of the modern history of the country.
