ART HK ~ The Hong Kong International Art Fair 26th to 29th May

Hong Kong.- ART HK 11, Asia’s preeminent Art Fair and one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the international art calendar returns to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where 260 galleries from 38 countries will come together to offer the largest display of contemporary art ever seen in Hong Kong. From 26th to the 29th of May, ART HK 11 will present works from modern masters such as Pablo Picasso through to important contemporary artists such as Takashi Murakami and Damien Hirst, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the very best and most extensive showcase of modern and contemporary art in Asia.

With prices ranging from HK$8,000 to HK$80M, ART HK provides the perfect opportunity to build your collection whether you are buying your first art work or are an established collector looking to invest in your next masterpiece.

A newly expanded section of ART HK, sponsored by Asia’s leading multi-brand luxury retailer Lane Crawford, 'ART FUTURES' is a multi-gallery display of works by emerging artists represented by galleries established within the last five years – it features a cross-section of the very best in emerging contemporary art. 'ASIA ONE' is an exciting new addition to ART HK that showcases solo exhibitions by artists of Asian origin and provides a unique opportunity for visitors to experience a diverse and current view of the Asian art scene.

The Hong Kong International Art Fair will display everything from painting to sculpture. As well as the art on display (and for sale), ART HK is accompanied by an extensive programme of talks by leading collectors, curators, and artists. Every year thousands of artist visit this expo to enhance their business and to get an idea and knowledge of the leading trends in the painting.

Time Out Hong Kong Magazine is offering art tours as an introduction to buying art giving visitors the lowdown on art buying at the Fair, what to look out for, buying etiquette, as well as the chance to view an interesting collection of works for under USD$5,000 from galleries participating in the ART FUTURES and ASIA ONE sections of ART HK 11 with an expert guide. Lasting roughly an hour, the tours will include a brief talk on "the essentials of starting a collection", "special viewing", and Q and A session. The small groups will be led by Time Out contributing editors and columnists with a background on art writing, editing and consulting.

VIP visitors will be able to enjoy visits to artists studios, private views and entertainments, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, 'Color My World' provides a team of practising artists and educators who will help to nurture and bring out self-expression, individuality and creative freedom in the younger visitor (aged 5 and over).
