The Hofstra University Museum Presents Drawings from the Museum Collection

Hempstead, NY.- “From the Hand; Drawings from the Hofstra University Museum Collection”, on view until September 11th in the Hofstra University Museum’s David Filderman Gallery, located in the Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library, ninth floor, south campus, features 32 drawings completed in a wide variety of styles with examples from the 18th and 19th century and showcasing a number of 20th century artists.
This original exhibition is curated by the Museum’s Associate Director of Exhibitions and Collections, Karen T. Albert and Collections Manager Kristy L. Caratzola. The drawings on display are both representational and non-objective, with images that include figurative, landscape and abstraction. Artists included in the exhibit are Jean Cocteau, Philip Pearlstein, Diego Rivera, Normal Rockwell, George Romney, Joseph Stella, and Benjamin West. “This finely presented exhibition provides visitors with a rare opportunity to explore three centuries of drawings, one of the most intimate and immediate forms of art,” said Executive Director of the Hofstra University Museum Beth E. Levinthal.

The Hofstra University Museum has been awarded the highest honor a museum can receive, continued accreditation by the American Association of Museums (AAM).
