Museo del Prado " Still Life Collection " opens in Zaragoza

Zaragoza, Spain - "Spanish still life in the Prado" opens at the CAI Luzan gallery in Zaragoza today. The show contains 60 works from the national gallery painted between the 17th and 19th century, among them still life paintings by Zurbaran and Goya. The show will be open to the public until 30 November.

Styles range from Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical and Romantic and depict everything from simple household tables to decorative scenes with mythical characters.

Curator Dr Juan Luna, head of 18th century painting at the museum said it was an honour to bring together a "veritable compendium of subjects and styles".

The touring exhibition is the second phase of the Traveling Prado programme, which is aimed at sharing the gallery"s "extraordinary heritage" with Spain"s citizens who reside outside the capital.
